Today I gave a pastor friend my gift of the dollar. I was at a clergy meeting and he was the third person who spoke to me that day. He smiled and was surprised. He said that he wife does not allow him to carry cash. (I have no idea what the story behind that is!) He got out his wallet and showed me, indeed, it was empty. He said he really appreciated having the dollar.
I saw him later today at another meeting. He said he still had the dollar (which I guess was an achievement for him!) and that he wasn't quiet sure what to do with it.
This is becoming a very interesting exercise! I am learning a lot about my friends and their relationship with money, as well as my own!

The first person I gave a dollar to tried so hard to give it back! I told him he had to keep it. Then he asked for a hug. I gave him a hug and he tried to pay me a dollar for the hug!
ReplyDeleteThe next day, the person thought I was giving him a dollar for change for the vending machine. When I told him what we were doing, his face just beamed... said he was going to keep the dollar in a prominent place as a reminder to be generous.
I can't wait till tomorrow... the response is always surprising!
